Catholic Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain
As a community, we are committed to growing in the Catholic faith while caring for the rich culture of Kerala and preserving traditional values handed down by our parents.
The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is a Major Archiepiscopal Church in full communion with the Apostolic See of Rome. It is one of the 23 Eastern (Oriental) Catholic Churches in full communion with Rome. It is the largest Eastern Catholic Church after the Ukrainian Church and the largest of the Saint Thomas Christian (Nazrani) denominations with 5 million believers.
The Syro-Malabar Church is an Apostolic Church which traces its origin to the St. Thomas. The Apostle, who landed at Cranganore (Muziris) in 52 AD.
It is headed by the Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil, and follows the East-Syrian liturgy that dates back to the third century.

Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Synod elected Mar Raphael Thattil as Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, thus becoming the Father and Head of nearly five million Syro-Malabar faithful around the globe.

He who dies clothed with this habit shall be preserved from eternal fire. It is the badge of salvation, a shield in time of danger, and a pledge of special peace and protection.”

Parish Ministries
The various ministries of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Syro-Malabar Mission provide you with a wide variety of ways of connecting with the community. Through these ministries you can learn and grow as an individual, meet others who share your values, and reach out to serve the larger parish and city. We hope there’s something for everyone here. If not, join us in creating future ministries.
Family Apostolate
MISSION: Empowerment of families through sacraments, seminars, family celebrations, counselling and temporal support.
Make the family aware of its role and mission.
Development of a healthy family life.
Reaching out to families in distress.
Apostolate of Catechism
We use catechism classes as a means to give fundamental principles of the Christian faith and the teching of the Church to children and youth so as to enable them to receive clarity and life to the faith which they received in Baptism.
Altar Servers
An altar server assists the priest at Mass by preparing the altar and acting as server during Mass. Mass Coordinators are experienced altar servers who take on the responsibility for setting up the furniture and vessels before Mass. We provide initial and ongoing training to our ministers.
Women’s Forum
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Syro-Malabar Mission recognises and acknowledges the dignity of women and with Pope Francis, the mission appreciates feminine genius and values, and the gifts and services of women in the Church. The first and foremost goal of the Women’s Forum is to foster the family relationships and to work for the integral growth of families in the community.
